I went to the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR)—what most people think of simply as ‘Tibet’—in April 2012. There were so many ‘firsts’ involved for me. Not only was it my first time in Tibet, but it was my first time in the Himalayan swathe; my first experience of high altitude (up to around 5200m); my first encounter with Vajrayana (Tibetan) Buddhism—and I was totally overwhelmed. I paid repeat visits both to the TAR and the Tibetan regions of Kham and Amdo over the following years, trekking, attending festivals, learning more about the culture, and always capturing everything I saw with my camera.
